Mission

Lisbon Roots is a cultural tourism project that was created for the foreign public and for the national public. Our commitment is to promote a better and authentic knowledge of the city and its region, creating thematic routes based on the local heritage and presented by experts in history and arts. Our tours are directed to a sophisticated and cultured public that wants to know the essence and authenticity of our city. So, either for the Portuguese public that wants to get to know better their capital city or the foreign public that comes to visit or live in Lisbon, our routes and tours are not superficial, they are very complete, going to the ROOTS of our city.

Brand

Our symbol is inspired in one of the archs from the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, Lisbon’s opera house, balcony. A charismatic bulding in the centre of Lisbon, opened by the Prince Regent D. João VI. One arch, one door, a mark of our desire to welcome, our desire to receive our customers in the main door, taking them to places they have never imagined to be. An arch, because it is one of the most beautiful elements of architecture, metaphor of the material patrimony of the city we want to show you. The opera house arch, because it’s the most beautiful concert room in the city, symbol of the culture level, symbol of our capacity of reborn from the ashes of the 1755 earthquake that destroyed the city.

About Lisbon

Lisbon is a city ingrained with history, which was written by several people. From the Phoenician to the Greeks, from the Romans to the Muslim. Lisbon, an heir so many traditions and cultures, becomes Christian in 1147 when conquered by the first king of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques. Lisbon was also the city of the Portuguese expansion in the 1500s, of the Portuguese Discoveries and of the 1800s Patriarchal, which marked the city’s identity forever. Lisbon was made the head of the Kingdom and Empire, was chosen by the nobles to build their beautiful palaces and by the bourgeoisie the main point of commercial trading. With us you will have the opportunity to get to know all the facets of this amazing city.
